synopsis

DON’T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT follows seventeen-year-old May, who keeps finding her way back to Naota, the younger brother of the one she cannot let go of.

As Naota reads her attention as affection, May is caught between wanting connection and fearing what it might reveal. She needs help, but does not know how to ask for it directly. What develops between them becomes unstable, intimate, and shaped by what neither of them can say out loud.

At its heart, the film is about the hope that even imperfect attempts at connection can bring us closer to being understood.
